Going to the dentist is often an upsetting and nerve-wracking experience. Whether it is fear of cavities, reliving past trauma, or simply the uncomfortable nature of someone poking around in your mouth, few of us look forward to our dental visits. However, we also place a good deal of trust in our dentist to do the job required. From simple cleaning to more complex oral surgery, we anticipate no problems. Unfortunately, errors do occur and, in those instances, you may have a case for dental malpractice.
Dental malpractice includes actions or procedures that a dentist performed, but went wrong, as well as procedures that should have occurred, but did not. Surgery errors, defective devices, and failure to diagnose serious oral issues are all possible issues. Common dental malpractice lawsuits include removing the wrong teeth, permanent nerve damage as a result of surgery errors, failure to consult relevant medical history, and complications from the administration of anesthesia.
